Mr. Badal is a third-term member of the Lok Sabha from Faridkot constituency in Punjab. He was first elected to the Lower House in 1996 and served in the eleventh and the twelfth Lok Sabha. Currently, he serves on the Parliamentary Committee on Science & Technology, and Environment & Forests, and is a member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Tourism.

During his previous stint in the Lok Sabha, he served as the Union Minister of State for Industry. He has also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2001 to 2004.

Mr. Badal is a post-graduation in Economics from Punjab University, Chandigarh (Punjab) and also has a Masters degree in business administration from California State University, Los Angeles (USA.).

Mr. Badal is not only a businessman, but is also as an agriculturist and a political & social worker. He has also excelled as an artist.

A widely traveled person, he has keen interest in sports, especially in golf and polo and his recreational activities include traveling, skeet and trap shooting and making sculptures.
