Dr. Kathiria represents Bharatiya Janta Party from the Rajkot constituency in Gujarat in the Lok Sabha. In his current term, he serves as a member of many important Parliamentary Committees such as, Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas, Committee on Industry and Committee on Public Undertakings.

Dr. Kathiria has also served in the eleventh, twelfth and the thirteenth Lok Sabha consecutively. During his various stints, he served in several important positions. He was the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Union Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development. He during his earlier tenure in the Parliament served on the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Committee on Defence, Committee on Petroleum and Chemicals, and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Communications.

Educated at B.J. Medical College, Gujarat University, Dr. Kathiria, an MBBS, is a medical practitioner by profession. Dr. Kathiria also has published books to his credit, which include Doctors! Beware of Eggs and Spiritual Compilation.

A trustee of several social organizations, his special interests include reading religious and spiritual, meditations, water-shed activities and farming.
