Mr. Shervani is a member of the Lok Sabha from Budaun, Uttar Pradesh. He has also served as a member of the 11th, 12th and 13th Lok Sabha consecutively. He was first elected to the 8th Lok Sabha in 1984.

He is, currently serving as a member of Parliamentary Committee on Private Members' Bill and Resolutions and Committee on External Affairs. Prior to this, he served on several other Parliamentary Committees, such as, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Finance; Committee on External Affairs and its Sub-Committee-I; Consultative Committee, Ministry of External Affairs; Committee to review the Rate of Dividend payable by the Rai Undertaking to General Revenues and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Mr. Shervani has also held important ministerial berth during his previous stint in the Lok Sabha. He was Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare (1996-97) and Union Minister of State for External Affairs (1997-98).

Mr. Shervani, a graduate from Aligarh Muslim University (Uttar Pradesh) is an industrialist by profession. He is also involved in various social and charitable work. He is a trustee of Bharat Seva Trust and Managing Trustee of Shervani Charitable Trust.

A widely travelled person, Mr. Shervani represented India in the United Nations in 1985, 1987 and 1998. His sporting interests include tennis and cricket.
