Mr. Maken is a member of the Lok Sabha from New Delhi. He is currently serving on several Parliamentary Committees, such as, Committee on Information Technology, Rules Committee and House Committee.

Mr. Maken has been politically active since his college days. Prior to entering the Lok Sabha, he served two terms as a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly (MLA). During his last stint in the Legislative Assembly, he was elected Speaker of the Assembly, a post he gave up after he became a member of the Lok Sabha. He was also a Minister of Transport, Tourism & Power, in the Government of NCT of Delhi and was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister assisting in legislative matters.

Mr. Maken holds a unique record of being an impressive initiator of debate on Budget from the Congress Legislative Party on all three times since March 1999. In recognition of his contribution to Assembly debates & proceedings, he was given the Best MLA Award for the year 1998-99 for his excellent performance in Delhi Assembly.

Mr. Maken is widely traveled and enjoys net surfing, reading non-fiction books and watching Sci.fi movies.
