A CPI (M) member, Smt. Sen, represents the subdivisional town of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal in the current Lok Sabha.

She is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources and the Committee on Empowerment of Women. Previously, she has been a member of the Committee on External Affairs and its Sub-Committee-II, and also member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Smt. Sen is a graduate from Raiganj College, Raiganj in West Bengal.

Smt. Sen has been a member of the National Council for Teachers Education. She is also associated with various humanitarian activities, such as, organizing blood donation camps, rehabilitation programmes, and rendering support to the socially and economically deprived women through the "Ganatantrik Mahila Samiti," a women's organization. Her special interests include reading books and gardening.
