Mr. Patil is a second-term member of Lok Sabha from Karad, Maharashtra.

Mr. Patil has held several important positions in his public life. Presently, he is a Member, Committee on Finance, Member, House Committee, and Member, Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice. In his earlier stint in the Lok Sabha, he has served in several parliamentary committees such as the Committee on Home Affairs, Committee on Petitions, Committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development, General Purposes Committee, Joint Committee on Patents (Second Amendment) Bill, Committee on Human Resource Development, Rules Committee, Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests, and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Information Technology. He was also a member in the Panel of Chairmen from 1999--2004.

Mr. Patil completed his M.A. in Economics from S.P. College, Pune University and completed a degree in law from Mumbai University. He is a retired IAS officer and has traveled widely.

An agriculturist, trader, and social worker by profession, Mr. Patil actively participates in social and cultural activities. He also has special interest in sports.
