Mr. P.K. Bansal is a member of Lok Sabha from Punjab. He has also served as the member of Rajya Sabha from 1984-1990. He has served as a member of several important Committees---Member, Committee on Subordinate Legislation (1984-86), Rajya Sabha. He has also worked on the Joint Committee on Railway Bills and the Public Accounts Committee.

He was elected to 10th Lok Sabha (1991). From 1993-1995, he served as the Chairman, Joint Parliamentary Committee on 83rd Constitution Amendment and Representation of People (Amendment) Bill, Member, Committee on Commerce, Member, Business Advisory Committee, Lok Sabha, Member, Committee on Rules, Lok Sabha, Member, Committee on Estimates, Chairman, Committee on Communications (1995-1996), Member Business Advisory Committee (1999-2000), Member, Joint Parliamentary Committee on Central Vigilance Commission (1999), Member, Committee on Ethics (2000-2001).
