Mr. Pradhan is a member of the Lok Sabha from Orissa's Deogarh constituency. Elected to 14th Lok Sabha, he is currently a member of the Committee on Energy, and the Committee on Petitions. He is currently the National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Prior to this, he was a member of the Orissa Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2004. He has also served as the President of the BJP Youth Wing - Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (Orissa) in 2001, and its National President in 2004.

Mr. Pradhan is deeply interested in issues involving rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced people due to industrialization; economic development activities in rural areas especially among the backward classes; securing energy future; and the youth.

He was given the Best Legislator Award for the year 2002-2003 for outstanding performance in the Orissa Legislative Assembly.

A widely traveled person, Mr. Pradhan represented India at the WTO meet in Brussels, 2004; International Visitors Programme by USA Government, 2005; and the European and Asian Joint Parliamentarians Convention for Campaign against HIV in Moscow, 2006.
