Ms. Preneet Kaur is a member of the Lok Sabha and represents the Indian National Congress from Patiala in Punjab. She currently serves on various Parliamentary Committees. She is Member, Committee on Water Resources; Member, Committee on Empowerment of Women and; Member, Committee on Public Undertakings.

She is also associated with several other prestigious bodies. She is Chairperson of the State Committee on Female Foeticide; Chairperson, Patiala Division and Urban Planning Authority; and Chairperson, Patiala Heritage Society. In addition, she is Member, Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee (RDTAC); Member, Punjab University Syndicate; Member, State Bank of Punjab (SBOP) District Level Review Committee; Member, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Advisory Council, Punjab; Member, State Sub-Montane and Kandi Areas Council; and Member, Punjab State Bet Areas Advisory Council.

She completed her education at St. Bedes College and Convent of Jesus and Mary College in Shimla, from where she received her Teachers Training Certificate in Bachelor of Arts.

Ms. Kaur, who has been in the public service for thirty years, was awarded the 'President of India's Red Cross Medal'. A political and social worker by profession, she has been especially interested in the welfare and upliftment of women.
