Mrs. Singh Deo is a third-term member of the Lok Sabha representing
the constituency of Bolangir in Orissa. She has held several
important positions in her public life. In the current Lok
Sabha, she is working on the Committee on Defence as well
as the Committee on Empowerment of Women.
In her previous stint in the Lok Sabha, she has served on
various committees, namely, the Committee on Agriculture,
Committee on Public Undertakings, Committee on Railways, and
the Consultative Committee under the Ministry of Communications
and Technology.
The Party Secretary of Orissa since 1998, Mrs. Singh Deo is
a woman of substance. She is earnestly associated with various
welfare schemes concerning women and children such as women
empowerment, development of backward and underdeveloped areas,
and the upliftment of the Scheduled castes and other weaker
sections of the society. Mrs. Singh Deo also strives to provide
employment opportunities so that the menacing problem of brain
drain can be done away with.
She completed her graduation in Political Science from Jesus
and Mary College and later attained a Diploma in Computer
Programming from the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication
Engineers in New Delhi. Besides being a full-time political
and social worker, she is also an ardent music lover and enjoys
playing the piano. She reads a lot in her leisure time and
has a passion for tennis and basketball. She has visited many
countries for professional as well as personal reasons.
